Why?

Our children are not learning. Only half of the students in Grade 5 can read a Grade 2 text and less than a third of our students can do division. [1] Only half of our graduates are employable. [2] The ones who are staying in school and graduating, are also not doing innovative work. [3]

All this has led to India continuing to remain poor. [4] We believe that economic growth is the most effective way to increase material well being. [5] We also believe that in order for the country and its citizens to prosper, the best thing we can do it build capacity in its citizens - starting with school going children.

We believe the system needs proof points of children who have received excellent education that do great things. A set of Pioneers who showcase what's possible. Pioneer's Corner is a way for us to create those proof points.

What?

In a world that is changing too fast to track, let alone adapt to, the way our children get education and the things they get educated about needs to keep pace. Instead of trying to predict what will change and how in the future, which is next to impossible, we want to focus on things that will not change.

Foundational literacy and numeracy skills, problem solving, reflection, collaboration, and grit are skills that will always be required. Through Pioneer's Corner, we want to teach these skills in a fun, fast, and effective manner. We value speed of learning because we believe that the faster we learn skills, the faster we can use them in life. We value fun because learning does not have to be boring. We value effectiveness because learning has to stick for it to be meaningful.

Once the children master these, we want them to engage with the world and solve problems that seem impossible to solve. We want them to implement theoretical knowledge into a world that’s continuously evolving. We believe that children can create the future and we want to support them and give them the opportunity.

How?

Through Pioneer's Corner, we want to do three things:

First, run a sustainable after school program that's - mastery based, AI Tutor assisted, relevant, and rigorous - we want to demonstrate how learning can be done.

Second, consulting with different schools and organizations - to build capacity and share resources - so as to achieve the outcomes together.

Third, build a community that advocates and learns on how this can be done better starting with a blog and a library.
